Searching

1

I’ve been looking through the photo album, memories fluttering back, a hurricane of emotions. One depicts a snowy night, your face grinning, teeth shining under the moonlight. Strange, I’d almost forgotten about that one. Another shows you, in a meadow of flowers, the wind swirling all around. This one I could never forget, just like you never forget the last time you see something.

Through the lines of words, I see nothing. There is no meaning, but yet I search. I am determined to find something, an answer, at least.

My mind, has begun to fade, there’s not much I can hold onto. Your face, remains clear as a crystal, nothing lost, nothing forgotten. Every day I fear, that what I hold most precious will begin to slip away, and there’s nothing I can do to control it.

Your words have become dreary, the unpredictableness of them turned predictable.

Alas, what I feared has come. Things are slipping away forever. Your face has slipped away forever. Those words have slipped away forever. Everything I lived for has slipped away forever.

In those words you said you’d been cheated. That you’d run out of luck. That you’d run out of time. I too have run out of time. All I can do is wait, and hope you’ll there for me.
