**Again, this is also an experimental story/rant. Feel free to comment what you think of it, so I can refine my writing skills. Now, enjoy!**
It’s talk that’s irrelevant. Yeah, I’m going to start off with that point. Small talk, is useless and awkward, so why do people do it? I mean, all it does is create more tension, something that was supposed to be eliminated by the small talk! Instead, why don’t we all just jump to the point, or if there is nothing to be said, don’t say anything at all. Okay? If these rules are applied, then conversations will transform from this:
“Hey Jess, how’s it going?”
“Good, how about you Linda?”
“Good! *secretly dying on the inside* Look, I needed to talk to you about the trip to starbucks.”
To this:
“Hi Jess, I need to talk to you about the trip to starbucks.”
Boom! So much easier! And there’s much less time being wasted on small talk and so forth.
Oh, and there are also those people that make small talk NO MATTER WHAT. So one time, I’m sitting there, writing another story *crying on the inside* and this complete stranger asks me, “How you doin’?” Okay then.
I then reply, “Good, how about you?”
“Good. So, whatcha you doin’?”
“Oh, I’m just writing *getting a bit awkward*”
“Cool… *drifts into silence*”
Now, the conversation has kind of died off and I’m just writing in silence. Then I pull out my earbuds and listen to music while writing to try and hint that I’m not interested in talking. Now you’re probably thinking, “Alex! How could you do such a thing! This person is trying to talk to you, be respectful!” I know, I know, mom. You see, the thing is, this conversation hasn’t benefitted either of us so far! Now continuing, I’m just sitting there, listening to music and writing. Completely occupied.
“So, you watching the game tonight?”
ARGGGG! Stop it! Stop talking to me! I am not interested in conversation!
Anyways, I then say, “Nah, I’m not really into basketball.”
And this little {useless} conversation turns on and off for a while, before I leave. Afterwards, I’m just thinking to myself, “Wow, that guy was so persistent.” So yeah, it’s just annoying and useless. Especially those people *shudders in disgust* who can’t stop creating small talk. I mean, every time someone starts small talk with me, I die a little on the inside. And I’m sure others feel the same. Right guys? Right? *gives self a high five*
